Today I had an extra quiz practice with my book 4 quizzers for awana T&T quizzing.
Oh, it was so. much. fun. One of them totally forgot about it, so we ended up going way late so they could all be there.
I started out using the goldfish crackers as a snack break, but it proved to be extremely distracting and I wasn't organized enough to just completely move it out of their way. (I've been up since 5am doing math and physics, give me break.) So I came up with the idea of giving them each a bowl and putting a goldfish in it when they did something particularly brilliant, and taking one out when they did something particularly...not so brilliant. =P
It worked quite well.
Halfway through, however, the following conversation ensues.
Me: Okay, take five and eat some goldfish.
>several minutes later<
L to J: you ate all of yours!
J: what's wrong with that?
L: she said eat only five!
Oh, how I love these kids. And coaching. And quizzing. I love seeing them get into it, get excited about remembering the material, learning new material...I especially love to see them in a huddle, buzzer jumping and getting excited like I did a few weeks ago on my quiz team.
(:
One day, one night, one moment, with a dream to believe in. One step, one fall, one falter, find a new earth across a wide ocean.

smile (:
I'm beginning to grow rather fond of the random, spontaneous blog updates. [that's a warning, dear reader] Probably due to all the rather deep thinking I've been doing lately. But never mind that right now.
We had quiz practice today and yesterday, which proved to be quite entertaining and actually productive. (as opposed to last week's, where we mostly hung out, mulled over all the information we didn't know, ate popcorn, and argued over whether to listen to my ipod or Micah's.)
I ALSO got to spend time with my sister yesterday, (!!!!!!!) whom I haven't seen in a year, which is a ridiculously long time. I'm trying to find an appropriately awesome word to describe our visit, but I'm not finding one. Ah, well. Guess that means I should expand my vocabulary.
Today is Christmas Eve Eve! Kind of scary how it's crept up. I have so much work to do before break is over.
OH! and Maple Candy is the best thing EVER! We have some in our house. ::sigh:: it's sooooo good. (:

And now it's over.
Thanks for your prayers on Saturday. I could tell people were praying for me because I stayed somewhat emotionally sane and actually almost enjoyed myself.
There were 2 rounds, and the top 3 from each round would advance to the final round. We got 4th. But our other team (we had 2 teams) placed 1st and then got Silver in the final round! Trinity got Silver as well. (they had 2 of each award, gold, silver, and bronze)
Afterwards we trooped off to Panda Express where for lunch, and then home, where I discovered we were randomly having friends over for dinner - which was very fun.
All in all, it was a good-ish day. I had a lot of fun, and it was great to see people from my old church. But I am also extremely glad it's all over because the stress, work, and emotion I put into it, not to mention lots of other things - was...stressful.
Here are a couple pictures...
